Creature Double Feature: The Invisible Man and The Invisible Man Returns

As a special treat, Peacock.com is making a selection of classic Universal horror movies free to view online in October. I thought I would feature two classic horror films a week, just as I used to watch them in second-run movie theaters as a young girl.

Our double feature tonight includes two Invisible Man movies.

The extra treat about this double feature is that you get to see two excellent actors portray The Invisible Man. Claude Rains starred in the first film and Vincent Price starred in the sequel.

The Invisible Man was directed by James Whale (who also directed Bride of Frankenstein) and premiered on Halloween night and was a sensation for its special effects. John P. Fulton, the special effects expert responsible for the parting of the Red Sea in The Ten Commandments, worked on the film. Claude Rains’ face was not seen until the final scene. He was a stage actor and was hired for his first film role due to his dramatic talents and unique voice.
